VisionAlaska worked with the State Guard Association of the United States to put on a one week long Chaplain’s School for ministers, who wish to serve with state guards or state defense forces during times of disaster response or national crisis.
In association with Alaska Christian College in Soldotna and the Alaska State Defense Force, the chaplain’s school trained military personnel and civilian pastors on how to serve our military personnel First responders and disaster victims.
Both Roger Holl and Melissa Holl graduated from the Chaplain’s School. Both serve part-time in the military. Melissa Holl co-taught the course on Women’s Issues in the Military.Other courses taught included:
*Spiritual Leadership,
*Psychological First Aid,
*Grief Counseling,
*CISM(Critical Incident Stress Management),
*Military Funerals,
*Field Services,
*Drill and
Ceremony,
*Stress Management for caregivers,
*Nonviolent Crisis Intervention,
*Suicide Prevention,
and the Chaplain in the Military.
VisionAlaska organized this event from Alaska to bring a national team of instructors to Alaska. Churches represented were Anchorage City Church, Change Point Church, Calvary Baptist Church in Ninilchik and the Grace Brethren Fellowship.

Suicide Prevention is an important issue in Alaska. Here, the National Guard teaches the Suicide Prevention course at the Chaplain's School.
