Christian Mediation and Conciliation
Roger Holl graduated from a Brethren college, the University of LaVerne. He also studied in the Brethren Colleges Abroad Program in Marburg, Germany for one year under noted Brethren historian, Dr. Donald Durnbaugh. He was latter named Alumnus of the Year at the University of Laverne for his work in law and education. He is an attorney with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree and is admitted before the United States Supreme Court. He has a certificate in mediation from the University of Washington, School of Law. Roger has mediated cases for the Alaska Court System and has served as an arbitrator, state hearing officer and Commissioner.
He has assisted Christian organizations with disputes for 35 years. He taught dispute resolution as part of this teaching at the University of Alaska, and was a Dean of Legal Studies at a private college.
Roger holds a PhD in Conflict Management and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary. He has extensive mediation and litigation experience and currently teaches courses in mediation
and Dispute Resolution at the college level. His PhD is in Christian Conflict Management.
Roger has done further work at the Harvard Graduate School of Government in Soviet Affairs and Middle Eastern Affairs. He studied intensive language studies at Stanford University and International Law at the World Court in the Hague and at the University of Marburg, Germany.
In working with Christians and Christian organizations it is important to use Christian principles rather than secular mediation principles.
Conflicts occur at many levels in the Christian community in the congregation, with pastors, elder boards and with members. Conflict is often a normal part of life, and scripture informs us as how to deal with confict. It is important to look to scripture to see God’s way of dealing with conflict.
