It had been raining all week, but somehow I knew from previous experience that we would have wonderful weather for our July 8, 2016 Hidden Lake event. Sure enough, the sun broke out for a glorious, warm day in the Alaska out-of-doors. Hidden Lake has become an annual event planned for youth, adults and for the unity of all Alaskan Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches to gather in the unity of Christ. John 17:21
Grown ups, youth and young adults gathered for an afternoon of boating, canoeing and inner tubing on beautiful Hidden Lake. The Lake is tucked away within the pristine wilderness of the Kenai Wildlife Refuge on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska.
By 5 pm, the campfire was going in the amphitheater fire pit overlooking the lake. The BBQ began, followed by ice cream.
During evening devotions, hymns and church songs echoed out over the lake and throughout the nearby campground. Matt Aho gave a heartfelt devotion on how God helps us overcome our fears. Thank you for blessing us with God's Word, Matt.
Under the midnight sun, boating and games continued as we all took in the wonderful peace that comes from being in God's creation and being in Christ.
Sky Watchers (Grace Brethren Boys), Alaska Unit 1, boated out to the middle of the large lake and landed on the islands to explore them.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord for your Word, the atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross, the loving fellowship of believers in worship, the unity of believers and your beautiful creation. Amen.
